district of Los Pedroches, in the northeastern area of the county of
Córdoba, the is located of Cardeña-Montoro Natural Park. The 41.212
hectares that it understands are a continuation to "La Sierra". Although

Wath interest of the area is centered in the "Roble Melojo" (Q. pyrenayca), located since in this space a high pluviometry it is given. The only existent community in the area and one of the scarce places in those that it is present in Andalusia. Near the "Venta del Charco" (small village) the areas of tighter disposition appear, and it is there where the populations are better conserved, thanks to the growth of many specimens of half age with regeneration under their covering. |

The vegetation of this natural space is very little degraded with regard to other areas of the district. The territory of the Park is a quite appropriate space for certain species that have disappeared of other places of our region; this way, it conserves species of great interest like the wolf, the Iberian lynx, otter, imperial eagle, real eagle, etc. |

In general it can be affirmed that the basin of the Yeguas river is at the present time rich and varied in aquatic insects, characteristic of clean and well oxygenated waters, as well as catfishes, vogues, gambusias, etc. The typical meadows of this park constitute one of the characteristic landscapes, in which the man has tried to harmonize the difficult balance of the agricultural uses, cattle and forest. To the domain of the holm oak it is necessary to add the presence of interesting arboreal species as the wild olive tree, the gall oak and the Cork oak, as well as repopulations of example of Pine. |
